Newrez Celebrates 2,212 Volunteer Hours Logged in April!

Read Time: 3 Minutes Date Published: June 27, 2024

At Newrez, we believe in the spirit of caring fiercely, whether it’s for our customers, colleagues, or communities.

We saw that spirit in full force during National Volunteer Month, typically celebrated during the week of April 21-28, 2024. Our team members spent the month of April giving back through on-site events, an extra volunteer rewards incentive, and a company-wide contest – committing over 2,200 hours to the betterment of their communities.

Newrez employees are awarded with 8 hours of annual Volunteer Time Off (VTO) to dedicate to any nonprofit of their choosing. For National Volunteer Week, we made it even easier to use VTO by bringing Project Linus® events on-site.

Project Linus® is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new handmade blankets. Employees in all our major sites spent two hours handcrafting no sew blankets to support the worthy cause. In total, we made and donated 120 no sew blankets for children across the country.

No matter where our employees volunteered in April, they enjoyed bonus rewards through our Dollars for Doers program. Dollars for Doers rewards volunteers with funds to donate to their favorite nonprofits. To show our gratitude for our incredible volunteers, we doubled the reward for the entire month of April.

These efforts both on- and off-site resulted in an incredible 2,212 volunteer hours in April. Our Houston office donated 575 volunteer hours toward the planning, drive, and competitive spirit of the Community Council. Newrez also supported the charity of choice for Joe Risi, a Finance Associate, who shared his volunteer story with us, “I assisted the FIRST® Robotics Team 321, the Robolancers in scouting, applying my job role of data analytics to analyze teams from around the world and determine who the top teams are. I also aided the team in strategy discussions and cheered with the students though playoffs into the World Championship, which the Robolancers won!” We gifted Joe $250 to donate to his favorite nonprofit as a thank you for sharing his volunteer story and using his Volunteer Time Off!

At Newrez, we empower our employees to make a difference in their communities and are humbled to have a workforce dedicated to that mission. In other words, we care fiercely.
