Newrez NOW Celebrates Localized Impact in 2021

Fort Washington, PA — Newrez Neighborhood Outreach Works (“NOW”), Newrez’s employee-driven community investment program, is celebrating the reach of our impact in 2021 through charitable contribution, outreach, and volunteerism by our employees across the country. In its second year, Newrez NOW donated nearly $1M through employee and company donations, the Newrez NOW grant program, in-kind donations and annual “You Save, We Give” holiday giving campaign.

Following a year of hardships on nonprofits in 2020 with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Newrez NOW stepped up its efforts this past year to specifically support local and regional nonprofits who previously relied on local donors and volunteers prior to the pandemic. One important program Newrez NOW utilizes to support these organizations is our Grant Program, which invites employees to apply for grant funding on behalf of beloved local, community-based nonprofits. Since the program’s launch, Newrez NOW has funded grants to over 40 worthy organizations.

Each of the Company’s larger locations have Community Engagement Councils, or teams of employee volunteers who coordinate local charitable initiatives by identifying the needs of the community and choosing the organizations that Newrez NOW works with. With a core focus on making a local impact, Newrez NOW supported more than 1,100 nonprofits across the country and donated more than 4,415 volunteer hours in 2021 – a three-fold increase from the year prior.

“It is imperative that we invest into making our communities the best they can be to live, work and thrive in. Through Newrez NOW and the leadership of our Community Engagement Councils, we’ve been able to widen our reach, support more organizations and make a bigger impact on more causes than ever before,” said Baron Silverstein, President and Chief Operating Officer at Newrez.

Founded in 2020, Newrez NOW’s mission is to create communities that thrive through charitable contribution, outreach, and direct employee engagement. Newrez NOW focuses on helping organizations who work to build and support the communities in which Newrez’s customers and employees live and work. Working with organizations such as Treasures 4 Teachers, Houston Food Bank, Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance, Toys for Tots, Team Rubicon and more, top causes supported by employees through Newrez NOW include Food Banks, Support for the Homeless, Education, Health & Wellness, Animal Welfare, and Disaster Relief.

In 2022, Newrez NOW is aiming to double its impact through employee investments, direct giving and volunteerism over the course of the calendar year. The program will collectively accomplish its goal through responsible, equitable and sustainable growth that illustrates its commitment to creating communities that thrive.
