Looking Back At Our 2024 Holiday Campaign

Read Time: 4 Minutes Date Published: March 06, 2025

Our 5th annual Home for the Holidays campaign raised nearly $395,000 for our charitable partners: The National Coalition for the Homeless®, Feeding America®, and Toys for Tots®!

Newrez’s annual Home for the Holidays campaign began in 2020 with the mission to feed, house, and bring joy to families in need across the country. We understand while the holiday season is joyous, it can also be a difficult for individuals and families across the country struggling to pay bills, put food on the table, and enjoy the holiday magic. We made it our mission to reach out and help those struggling, and thus Home for the Holidays was born.

In the five years that have passed, the campaign has grown to become our largest and most-loved fundraiser. Our employees look forward to a toy drive, enjoy a 2x match on donations to our campaign partners, find meaningful ways to give back through their work, and love to see our senior leadership go head-to-head in competition, along with some other perks!

Toy Drive

The toy drive between offices is led by our dedicated Community Engagement Councils. Our Councils work year-round to bring impactful community-minded events to their offices, including fundraisers, awareness campaigns, and regular volunteer opportunities. In total, we collected 3,032 new toys for children across the country to be distributed by Toys for Tots®.

Doubled Impact

Throughout the year, employees enjoy a dollar-for-dollar company match on donations to eligible nonprofits of their choice in our Giving Portal. During Home for the Holidays, we double for every dollar donated to the campaign. For example, if an employee donates $100, a total of $300 is contributed to the Home for the Holidays campaign. In total, we fundraised an incredible $134,000 for our Home for the Holidays partners.

Engaging the Business

For the third year in a row, our Servicing team brought holiday cheer to work by supporting a great cause! Through their efforts to assist homeowners, they helped unlock over $142,000 in corporate contributions to the holiday campaign. Servicing wasn’t alone, our Mortgage Originations team fundraised over $72,000 for the charitable campaign as well!

Leaders Lead the Way

Every year, we host a challenge for two senior leaders, Joshua Bishop, Head of Servicing Operations and Shane Ross, Head of Servicing. The Houston Community Engagement Council has led the effort since 2022, curating fun challenges for Shane and Joshua and livestreaming the event for all employees to watch. This year, Shane and Joshua competed in the “Newrez Warrior Challenge,” which had them racing against time and each other in physical and mental challenges including an obstacle course, a bicycle build, and work-themed trivia. Shane won the Warrior Challenge, claiming victory just seconds before Joshua, but Joshua won the fundraising component of the challenge, raising an incredible $77,000.

Giving Tuesday Surprise

Giving Tuesday is a global “generosity” movement celebrated the Tuesday after Thanksgiving every year in the United States. In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, Newrez gifts all employees’ Giving Accounts with $25 to donate to their favorite eligible nonprofit organization in the Giving Portal, on us!

That’s A Wrap!

Between the fundraisers, toys collected, Servicing and Originations challenges, we donated nearly $395,000 in support of the impact our nonprofit partners are creating every day.

Another successful Home for the Holidays campaign would not be possible without thanking our employees, whose generosity and care fiercely attitude, never ceases to amaze us!
