May 13, 2026 -- FORT WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Newrez, a leading homeownership company, today announced the launch of Rezi Mortgage Assistant, making Newrez the first major mortgage lender with an AI-powered, consumer-facing mortgage guide built directly into ChatGPT. Designed around how today's borrowers search for answers, the custom GPT delivers instant, plain-language mortgage and home equity responses drawing on Newrez's own lending requirements and educational content, helping consumers navigate the home financing journey with greater clarity and confidence.
Unlike generic chat tools, Rezi Mortgage Assistant is grounded in Newrez's actual underwriting guidelines and lending policies, so answers reflect Newrez's specific lending criteria and lead to more relevant and actionable advice. Rezi Mortgage Assistant lets prospective borrowers explore the home financing process on their own terms—without forms, phone calls, or sales pressure—and progress to a loan officer only when they are ready.

The launch comes as consumers increasingly turn to AI for help with financial guidance. More than half of consumers (55%) now use AI to aid their financial management decisions, up from 10% last year, according to TD Bank. Usage is highest among Gen Z (77%) and Millennials (72%) and continues to grow among Gen X (49%) and Baby Boomers (30%).
