Newrez and Shelter Mortgage Announce Launch of Homeowners First Mortgage, a New Joint Venture Partnership
Fort Washington, PA (October 5, 2020) — Newrez LLC (“Newrez”), a national mortgage lender and servicer, announced today the launch of Homeowners First Mortgage (“Homeowners First Mortgage”), a joint venture mortgage company. Newrez and Shelter Mortgage Company, LLC (“Shelter Mortgage”), the Newrez business division focused on JV lending, have partnered in this venture with First Team Real Estate (“First Team”), the proven unit sales leader in Southern California. Homeowners First Mortgage is led by James (Jaime) Barton. With this new partnership, Newrez now has 18 JV partners across 12 states in the U.S.
Homeowners First Mortgage emerged from a strategic partnership opportunity between respective industry leaders First Team and Shelter Mortgage. Both companies having proven track records of serving customers in the greater Irvine, California area.
Founded in 1976, First Team has grown its presence in Southern California to more than 2,200 associates in 38 locations. The team’s founder and CEO, Cameron Merage, has given the company an advantage through his commitment to innovation and creativity. His latest industry-leading initiative is called First Team’s Hero Program through which Homeowners First is offering preferred mortgage rates to first responders, medical providers and other essential workers.
