Volunteers Around the Country
Our Community Engagement Councils, or philanthropically-minded groups of Newrez employees, led volunteer efforts and fundraising activities across the country. These dedicated Newrezers brought employees together to support local nonprofit partners and students preparing for a new school year.
Across the country, Newrezers found creative ways to support students, teachers and families as they prepared for the new school year. Employees organized fundraising events, donated school supplies, assembled backpacks and journals and volunteered with nonprofit partners focused on literacy, education and family support. In Houston alone, employees helped collect approximately 5,000 school supply items, while volunteers in Tempe assembled 2,736 journals for teachers to use in their classrooms.
Additional efforts included supporting military families through Operation Homefront, helping prepare for a major literacy fundraising event with the Greenville Literacy Association and sorting donations for children and families with BEAR. These volunteer activities helped extend the impact of the campaign far beyond fundraising.
Expanding Access to Books
This year, Newrez once again partnered with Book Fairies® through a virtual Bookshop.org® book drive. Employees and supporters donated 114 books, which will be distributed to children and families through the Book Fairies® network.
Access to books can help improve literacy and academic growth. By participating in the drive, Newrezers helped connect more children in underserved communities with reading materials.
Surpassing Our Fundraising Goal
In addition to volunteering and donation drives, employees also contributed to Newrez's annual Back-to-School fundraising campaign.
The campaign exceeded the $30,000 goal, with 884 donors raising $45,185 through employee contributions and Newrez's 2:1 company match program. Funds raised through the campaign will be shared among participating nonprofit organizations, helping them continue their work around the country.
The success of our sixth annual Back-to-School Campaign reflects the generosity, enthusiasm and community spirit of Newrezers. As another school year begins, Newrez is proud to stand alongside our nonprofit partners and continue investing in opportunities that help students, teachers and communities thrive.
